Movie Review [The Incredibles]
I finally had the chance to watch this movie. Wanted to go for the 4pm movie but it was a full house due to the Raya season and school break. So had to go for the 7.15pm movie. Didn't get a good seat though.
This Disney animated picture with the collaboration of Pixar is produced by the same team of Academy Award Winning creators of "Monsters, Inc.", "Finding Nemo" and "Toy Story".
The story revolves around The Incredibles [Mr. Incredible @ Bob Parr, Elastigirl @ Helen, Violet, Dash and Jack Jack] who is struggling to live a normal life, after the public whom they've saved filed lawsuits against the superheroes. The government had no choice but to put them under witness protection program so that they could lead a normal live. However, things took a wrong turn, and the whole family had to expose their secret identities to save the world.
I find this film interesting as it shows us that even superheroes have the same problems we face each day. So I've proven my theory right: no one is spared from the misery of life!
Take Bob for example, working as the insurance claim specialist isn't his dream job. He has to put up with his boss' immoral practices (by denying insurance claim for the clients).
For Helen, she's just like all homemakers, trying to keep the house in order. Not forgetting settling down the 3 children who always give her headaches. Lucky her for having her flexibility.
As for Violet, she's is the normal teenage girl. Has a crush, but is afraid to express her feelings (she can put her invisibility power to good use by snooping around). It's the low self-esteem most teens experience. Not forgetting the "I hate life" and "I just want to be normal" issue.
Oh, and for Dash, he's the brother a sister will not want to have, and the son a mum will have to worry about. If only he can keep his mouth shut for a minute, and stop playing pranks on his teachers. He's got his speed to get him out of trouble, though. So, no worries ;)
Well, the story won't be complete without mentioning the villain, Syndrome. Turned out that this filthy-wealthy and technology-craze bonkers was a fan of Mr. Incredible in his childhood. He yearned to become Mr. Incredible's sidekick (even called himself Incrediboy...hehe). After being "cast away" by Mr. Incredible, Incrediboy-turned-Syndrome is now back to seek revenge. (Poor boy, for suffering such childhood trauma.)
Other major characters in this film are Edna Mode a.k.a "Superhero Costume Designer", Frozone a.k.a the "Super Cool Black Superhero", and not forgetting the ever so cute baby Jack Jack a.k.a the "Unpredictable Black Sheep of the Family".
All in all, this action-packed cum comedy picture is the typical, storyline-predictable kind of animation. However, it deserves a thumbs up for the good graphics. Highly recommended if you need some time out to relax, i.e. from final exam revision like me, perhaps? :P
