It Rained...Finally

What a relief! The flashes of lightning, the rumbling sound of the thunder and smell of the rain in this drought-stricken land.

It finally rained after weeks of dry spell. Yeah, it was weeks of hell on earth. The hot afternoon walk to campus, the sweat-soaking shirt, the humid room.

This heavy downpour should clear the hazy sky. Let's hope tomorrow would be a better day.

As for tonight, I'm looking foward to a nice and cooling sleep. ; )

Trinite 2005

Trinite 2005 - A Moment Like This.

For the first time ever, the 3 main faculties (FIST @ IT, FET @ Engineering, FBL @ management) in Melaka campus came together to jointly organise a prom night.

Trinite was successfully held at the Equatorial Hotel last night. Here's some photos for your viewing pleasure. :D

Ants Attack

Ant - An annoying six-legged menace. Deserved to be 'quashed'.

That is precisely how I will define "ant" in the Oxford Dictionary if given the chance.

Gosh, they're really so annoying! Let me tell you why.

Bought 2 bottles of concentrated honey lime juice 2 days ago and left it on the table in my room. The bottle is like any other plastic bottle used to store concentrated juice and is tightly sealed around the mouth.

When I came back today, I noticed these menace happily crawling in lines on the table. Out of curiosity, I began to trace their movement. To my horror, they're all heading towards the bottles of honey lime juice which are still in the plastic bag.

I took out the bottles and found quite a number of ants crawling on the bottle. Some had just crawled out from the sealed mouth of the bottle! And they even had traces of honey lime juice on their mouth and body. I bet some of them even bungee-jumped into the juice. *hmphh*

Anyway, the bottles are now surrounded by a bowl of water to prevent those poor 'swimmers' from having another taste of the juice. :D

Instead, I'm treating them to yet another finger-lickin' good snack. I think we human call it 'ant killer'. *evil grin*

Bon appetit, dumb-ass!

Flunked

Got my PLC paper back today. As expected, I flunked. The highest mark is 51/80. That's the only 2-digit mark with the number "5" in front.

Anyway, a fail is still a fail, no matter what. But at least when compared to the highest mark, I'm not that far from behind afterall. :P

More midterm results to be released in the near future. Basically, I don't think they (the results) will look good, judging by my performace in the tests. :(

Oh ya, submission of the PLC project which is due today has been postponed to next week. *hurray* Lucky me, because I haven't start any coding yet. *phew*

L'oreal

Got a phone call from one of the faculty tutors. Was telling me some guy from L'oreal tried to contact me for a phone interview but couldn't get me. (I got shortlisted to L'oreal as one of my Industrial Training companies).

So I called back. I was then told the person-in-charge a.k.a interviewer was not in. While the lady on the other side was busy trying to schedule a time for the interview, I was so "helpful" to suggest that anytime before 8.00pm today would be fine for me. (OS 2 midterm was at 8.00pm).

And there goes my chance of trying to get a nap before the test. Wouldn't want to talk on the phone while I'm still halfway strolling in Dreamland, right? Hehe. (Psst psst...I fell asleep eventually :P)

Anyway, the guy only called after 6.00pm. He started off by asking me why I choose L'oreal as my training company followed by dozens of questions. I promptly replied all of them. Think I did quite good in giving the answers. *blush blush*

Well, I'm supposed to travel down to KL next Wednesday to attend another round of interview at L'oreal's HQ in PJ. Should this one goes well too, I should be able to secure a placing there.

Wish me luck then! ; )

Sleepy

Words can't describe how tired and sleepy I am feeling now. Been in this computer lab since 9.00am attending the Java certification class.

Was burning the midnight oil last night - actually more to a last minute struggle to revise for my Software Engineering test today. Only got to bed at almost 4.00am, knowing exactly how miserable life will be today.

As predicted, I started to dozz off as early as 10.00am. :D Compliments must be given to the lecturer as well. He sang a good piece of lullaby. *clap clap*

Test was scheduled at 11.00am and would last for an hour. Permission was already given to excuse us from the class. By 10.15am, I was already looking at my watch and hoping that time will tick faster. I would love to get out of this place earlier. 1-hour lunch break is usually at 12.00 noon, meaning I'll be out of class for 2 hours. Hehehe...

Nothing came as expected though. The ever so lengthy lecturer only let us go by 11.00am, leaving a few idiots (including me) running towards the Exam Hall. Everyone was still outside by them time we reached the venue. Apparently, there was another test held at the venue, and was due to end at 11.00am. However, students only started to leave the hall after 11.00am.

We were forced to start the test late. 11.30am. There goes my precious 1-hour lunch break. *sigh* I left only half an hour to gobble up my lunch before going back to the lab again.

And here I am, dozzing off a zillion times! Special thanks to the lecturer's lullaby ; )

I then figured what better way to spend this time than to post a blog. And so, while the lecturer is happily humming away, I'm frantically blogging away. This guy (lecturer) has a habit of walking around the room while lecturing. Just hope I won't be caught blogging. That would be so embarassing. Hehe. Then again, I don't think he will do anything to me, since I'm the one paying for the class.

Hmm...yet another session spent sleeping in this cold cozy computer lab. Well spent, eh? (Considering the hot weather outside :P)

...

Life has been dull and bored and miserable.

First of all, there's this never-ending, marathon-like midterm tests. Nothing more interesting in my life than reading through those lecture notes. Geez...

Then comes the freaking hot weather. Try putting an egg out in the sun. I'm sure it'll be half-boiled in an hour's time. You might even be able to hatch a chick. Oh wait, I think you'll end up geting a barbequed one. :D

Too bad I only get darker instead of slimmer under the sun. :P

Scorching sun - complaint.
Endless rain - complaint.
Too busy - complaint.
Damn free - complaint.

Ah well, humans are weird afterall.

P/S: Forgive me, I can't seem to think of a better title for this post. Hehe...

Back In Hell

Almost a week since my last post. In a glimpse, I'm back in Malacca again.

The Chinese New Year/ Midterm Break was short and swift. I did enjoy the time spent in Kuching. Did not really touch any of the books I brought back. Was so busy meeting up with friends from primary and secondary schools. Not forgetting those tiring house-to-house visiting.

And of course the suffering came after the enjoyment. Day 1 in Malacca saw me rushing for a presentation straight after reaching home, and sitting for the PLC midterm paper in the evening. The presentation was ok, not for the test though. :(

So that was how I spent the Valentine's Day. Oh well, it's not like I have someone special to share this day with. :P

I had Computer Network paper this evening. It was easy. Too bad I made a lot of mistakes. There goes another paper in the toilet bowl.

Another 3 midterm papers on Thursday, Saturday and next Monday respectively. PLC project is due next Wednesday. Basically the rest of the days of Chinese New Year will be spent by burying my head into piles of books and staring on the pc monitor.

Let's pray I'll survive this ordeal.

Golden Rooster Year

Fireworks started to lit up the sky way before the clock stroke 12. Each year, they tend to get bigger, brighter and better! So much for the stricter law enforcement banning fireworks in the country. Hehe.

Pity the dogs though. They had nowhere to hide. If only they could cover up their ears, then they wouldn't have to run like mad cows :P

Been staying up all night. Watched bro burnt packets of those traditional firecrackers (in simpler terms, burning money) hanged from long bamboo. Watched new year special programmes, and did the finishing touches on the in-house decorations.

It's now past 6.00 am. Don't really know how much longer before I drop dead on the bed. Opps, forgive me. No "die", "dying", "dead" for the next 15 days. :P

Oh well, it's not like I'll be out visiting early in the morning. It's been our house's practice to start visiting only after noon. Furthermore, mum already mentioned she wants to watch some programmes in the morning.

Ah, Happy Chinese New Year to everyone then. May the year of the golden rooster brings you health, prosperity, and hmm...wealth perhaps? :D

Finally

It finally rained, after a long dry spell.

Read in the paper earlier where meteorologist forecasted that the long dreaded rain will start during the eve of Chinese New Year.

Why long dreaded? Because for the past few years, whenever it rained during this festive season, it only meant one thing - flood. And it's getting worse each year. I remembered reading an article predicting this year's flood the worst ever.

It's not like my housing area will flood or anything. But the idea of out visiting in the rain is not so welcoming. Last year we even have to cut short our house-to-house visiting as many planned-to-visit areas were flooded.

Anyways, I should be counting my blessings instead of grumbling. Unlike others, I don't need to worry whether the water will enter my house when I'm in bed, or the need to evacuate any property when the water comes.

A relief yet a worry. This rain is really giving people the headaches. Let's just pray the rain serves its natural cooling purposes, and then begone with it. ; )

Busy Busy

Can't believe I did not blog for the past 2 days! Hehe. Obviously my title says it all. So damn busy with Chinese New Year preparation - baking biscuits, cleaning the house, stock-piling new year items.

Sometimes I just don't understand why everyone is so busy when it comes to certain festivity. Chinese New Year is a time when you get to meet relatives and friends who you don't get to meet all year round. It should be simple, with visits and some drinks and tit-bits. Instead, it has become a habit to clean the whole house, inside out; as if your visitors will even visit the bedrooms. :P

Oh well, I think Chinese like me is just finding excuses to clean the house when the new year is approaching. Come to think of it, I wonder what will become of my house if there's no Chinese New Year. I guess I'll have to share my bed with the rats and cockroaches. Ok, maybe the situation is not tat serious. :D

Don't really have time to revise for my midterm exams yet. The body tends to get exhausted after a day's work.

Hmmm, tummy is making weird noises now. At this hour?! Gosh, my internal body system must have gone haywire. Off to hunt for food. Lucky it's Chinese New Year. Food-hunting within the house should be an easy task. Muahahaha...

Grooming

Went for a haircut this morning. In case you're wondering whether I am having a new hairstyle, the answer is no. Hehe. I'm not the type who likes to change my hairstyle. As long as my hair is short and neat, I'm more than happy already. My current hairstyle is just fun. A little bit of colouring (dye) on the head would be better still. :D

I had an appointment with the dentist this afternoon. Had some discomforts months ago (Yes, months ago...), which I presumed the decay of tooth. Was hoping I can still keep all my teeth should the condition is not that worse. Filling would do fine. So, me and my brother went at around 1.30pm. He also complained of toothache.

Bro went in first. After some while, the nurse called me in as well. Different room from bro's.

After 'positioning' myself on the 'operation chair', the dentist came in. He then proceeded to check my teeth. I thought he was having fun with my set of teeth as he kept poking and pricking them.

What a relief when the dentist told me my teeth was fine and ok. He advised me to use dental floss apart from brushing. Then he 'offered' to polish my teeth (with charges of course *roll eyes*). The whole procedure ended in less than 15 minutes.

Poor brother wasn't as lucky as me. Kekekeke. The dentist detected a decayed tooth and had no choice but to extract it. I did not know the whole procedure. But what I am sure of is that he came out of the room with one tooth less. :P

I went home happily at around 2.00pm. Not sure whether bro is happy or not. Afterall, I'm not the one who lost a tooth. Hehe.

Glad To Be Home

Home sweet home (again). Not much changes. It's only 2 months since my last trip afterall.

Well, as usual and as expected, the house is in a mess. :P I noticed some changes this year around compared to previous chinese new years. Everyone is actually starting to spring-clean the house already! And so that explains why the house is messier. Stupid me, for thinking no one is cleaning the house. Hehehe. *sheepish smile*

Mum finished all the tailor work, except her own clothes. This is also unexpectedly fast this year. She was baking cookies when I got home. Another miracle! Muahahaha.

Dad painted some parts of the house. Just the base only. Has yet to do the finishing touches.

And all-that-he-knows-is-eat-only brother is still ever so lazy. Ate whatever I brought back (i.e. 'bak gua' or BBQ pork). Cut short and highlighted his hair. What a surprise to me (the highlighted part I mean). He now wears a ring similar to mine, and also a shark teeth necklace. What a weirdo. Wakakaka...

Oh well, I'm just glad to be home.

Where's The Mood?

Million-dollar question - where's the chinese new year mood?

Hmmm, I can't feel the season in the air. People always say, as you get older, you tend to be less excited of all the festive celebrations.

Is that the sign of old age? I wonder. Or is it because of the hectic schedule of my academic matters?

Tried to play some chinese new year song to create the enviroment, but to no avail. In the end, I resorted to my old playlist of the more commercialized (pop) songs. :D

Bought some mini mandarin oranges, hoping to get the "feel" of new year. Hmmm...I still can't feel it. :P

Flying back to Kuching tomorrow night. Would certainly like to help mum out, baking the biscuits. Forget about the spring cleaning part - I'm not going to do that. Hehehe. Let my sister and brother do that.

Oh, dont worry. I have a very good excuse. "A lot of tests after the break. I need to study. You wouldn't want me to fail, would you?"

How's that? *grinning*

Well, hopefully I'll be able to find the mood as we cock-a-doodle-doo into the year of the rooster.
