Is Love Really Blind?
I have no whatsoever experience in this thing called love, neither am I engaging in any serious relationship at the meantime. But I find it interesting to see how someone who is perfectly fine to be so blinded when it comes to love.
There was once, during my secondary school life, when it seemed that almost every couple in school would self-inflict (with a penknife) a wound bearing the name (or initial) of their lover on the hand, a way to proclaim their (undying, unflinching, everlasting) love to each other. It was hailed as the in thing back then. Looking back, I find it quite ridiculous. What is there to show with those scars? How can a scar keep his/her thousand promises? Will it make the love an eternal one? I doubt so.
Fast forward to university life. This is the time dubbed "valentine-all-year-round" or "love-hunting season" by many. Indeed, there'a alot of couple around. Usually, Beauty and Prince Charming are occupied; they tend to be grabbed very soon. Sometimes, this comes with a heavy payload a.k.a high maintenance cost. In order to maintain a relationship, some people think it's necessary to spend on sumptuous food and lavish gifts. Being a student with tuition fees ranging from RM40,000 to RM60,000 is already a heavy burden, even if there's a study loan. It sure is hard to breathe with this additional expenditures.

Unlike the olden days, modern couples are no longer being constrained by custom and tradition, where parents used to arrange their children's marriage, some even before they were born. Nowadays, where everyone speaks of individual freedom and personal rights, the children do go against their parents' objection in pursue of love. What's worse is that some are even willing to denounce the relationship with their families and relatives. Is there no other way to reconcile these differences than to sacrifice the blood relation, that of those who raised, fed, dressed and groomed you for years?
Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that love has its bright side as well. I do not intend to elaborate on it for now, as it is not the main focus. Another post maybe. ;)
To sum things up - to be blinded or not blinded by love, it all depends on how one tackles the issue. The mind must be clear of the course the host is taking. In case you are blinded and lost your way in the jungle of love, grab hold of a cane stick and guide yourself out. Who knows what you would find at the end of the road. True love perhaps?
