Weekend @ Bukit Bintang
My uncle was in KL last weekend. Me and my cousins (his sons) joined him at the hotel which is at Bukit Bintang. We had dinner at Jalan Alor, and spent some time at the shopping complexes.
People always say Malaysia's Bukit Bintang is the equivalence of Singapore's Orchard Road, though it's not as posh and hype as the latter. Nightlife is something to look forward to. But, considering the amount of money to be spent and our tender age, we decided to go for something "light".
My cousins and their friend suggested to kill time at the internet cafe. So, the 4 of us headed over to Low Yat at around midnight. Charges per hour is at RM3 inclusive of free flow of soft drinks, ice lemon tea, milo, orange juice. It's quite a good deal. The seating arrangement is nicely done too - spacious and comfortable.
Initially, my plan was to surf the net. To my dismay, the connection was kinda slow and the PC doesn't have any instant messangers. After bearing it for 15 minutes, I finally gave up and checked on the others. They were all playing WarCraft. And guess what, I actually joined them in the game.
After countless rounds of game play (and cup after cup of drinks), it was already almost 5.00 am. We decided to call it a night and headed back to the hotel. What came up next was what I feared most.
A short 10 minutes walk back to the hotel, and we're approached by numerous "businessman" looking for potential customers.
"Handsome, want 'chicken' (prostitute) ar?"
"Mister, want to rest or not? We have young girls to accompany you."
"Come, come. We have young girls from Vietnam, Thailand, China"
"Very cheap only."
Arghh...these people will bug you like some blood-sucking leech. If only Ridsect can kill them off.
Sometimes, incidents like this only make me wonder what our government is doing. They talk loudly about eradicating these social ills, yet you see them (social ills) everywhere.
Corrupt or inefficient? Both I guess.
